The party leadership also advised: “Discipline and order are absolutely necessary for us.”

Launching a fire-fighting exercise in the wake of dissent voices within the party demanding unitary leadership, the AIADMK on Sunday advised its party functionaries against making comments on party leadership, party affairs and election results in public and through the media.
A statement jointly signed by party coordinator Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and co coordinator and Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami was issued a day after AIADMK MLA V.V. Rajan Chellappa (Madurai North), in a press meet, pressed for a unitary party leadership.
“The comments by some of our party brethren through the media, over party leadership and how the future course should be, are not desirable,” a statement released by the party on Sunday evening stated.
Though these party men were making these statements only due to their affinity and commitment to the party, “it is necessary to be conscious of the circumstances,” the statement observed.
The comments made by party men should not help those who were working against the interests of the AIADMK, the party leadership also advised: “Discipline and order are absolutely necessary for us.”
“Do remember that there is time and place in the form of General Body meeting and Executive Council meeting and others meetings for those wanting to make any comment for the development of our party,” it underlined.
Party’s functions so far have been to the satisfaction of the ordinary party worker and the objective of the party was to fulfill his/her sentiments, the AIADMK held and adviced party men from making comments against leadership, party affairs and also on election results in public.
The AIADMK, as part of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, secures just one of the 20 seats it contested in the Lok Sabha elections. All it’s allies drew a blank.
