Prime Minister confident the government will ‘boost Goa’s growth trajectory’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday gave new Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant their best wishes, after he took oath in the early hours of the day.
“Best wishes to Dr. Pramod Sawant and his team as they begin their journey towards fulfilling the dreams of the people of Goa. I am sure they will build on the work done in the last few years and boost Goa’s growth trajectory,” Mr. Modi tweeted.
“Congratulations to Dr. Pramod Sawant on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Goa. My best wishes to him and his entire team. I am confident that this new team will continue working towards fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of the people of Goa,” Mr. Singh tweeted.
Mr. Sawant, former Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, was sworn in as Goa’s 11th Chief Minister at the Raj Bhavan well past midnight, on March 19, along with a 11-member Cabinet of the BJP-led coalition. It has two Deputy Chief Ministers, Sudin alias Ramkrishna Dhavlikar of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Vijai Sardesai of the GoaForward Party.
Mr. Sawant succeeds Manohar Parrikar, who died on Sunday after over a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has said that the allocation of portfolios to his Ministers will be done within the next eight days.
The new alliance government was inducted after a lot of bargaining and hectic parleys between old BJP allies, which included two regional outfits of MGP, Goa Forward and three independents.
