"Did PM send our EAM to OIC Meeting for such unacceptable & blasphemous accusations to be hurled at India?" Mr. Surjewala questioned
Demanding answers from the Narendra Modi government, the Congress on March 3 slammed the recent visit of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit. This comes a day after OIC adopted a resolution condemning "atrocities and human rights violations" in Kashmir.
Congress chief spokesperson in a series of tweets said that the visit was a "Diplomatic Faux Pas". "Did PM send our EAM to OIC Meeting for such unacceptable & blasphemous accusations to be hurled at India?" Mr. Surjewala questioned. PM must answer to the nation for OIC once again reiterating it's earlier stand of commenting on the Kashmir situation in spite of recent overtures by the Indian side.
The External Affairs Ministry has to firefight following the statement. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that J&K is an “integral part of India and is a matter strictly internal to India”. But unlike previous statements, New Delhi did not say that OIC has no locus standi, and that India rejects the statement.
