Relatives and villagers geathered at Ramapuram of Gadwal district for mass fuenaral of 15 people, who died after a speeding bus collided with the Jeep they were traveling in. The accident took place near Veldurthi in Kurnool dist of Andhra Pradesh.
A protestor demanded an immediate announcement of ex-gratia from the Telangana government. They also claim that the government is acting in a complacent manner.
Demanding ex-gratia for the 16 deceased in an accident at Veldurthi, the bereaved family members and Telangana Mala Mahanadu have sat down at the gates of mortuary in Government General Hospital, Kurnool. The protestors even blocked ambulances carrying the bodies out of the hospital. So far, only six of the 16 bodies have left Kurnool.

The district collector S. Satanarayana, speaking to the media said that ex-gratia cannot be announced as model code is in place. “After the code ends, the government can announce the compensation,” he added.
Protests in Telangana:
According to sources, protests have also erupted in Shanti Nagar Village in Telangana, demanding compensation. The villagers had reportedly sat down on the main road and are not letting any ambulances pass through.
Politicians console the bereaved:
MRPS chief Manda Krishna Madiga visited Kurnool GGH early in the morning on Sunday, and spoke to the bereaved family members. Later, while speaking to reporters he claimed that Telangana Chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's government has been negligent of SC communities. “K.C.R has time and resources to attend a wedding in a helicopter but has no time for the victims of the accident,” said the MRPS president.
Prime minister Narendra Modi, Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao, Janasena Party president Pawan Kalyan, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy have all put out statements offering their condolences to the bereaved family members.
