The bullet-riddled body of a BSF Assistant Sub-Inspector was recovered from a border post in Sabroom area in south Tripura on Thursday. BSF authorities said that the circumstances leading to his death would be ascertained after scientific and forensic investigations.
Though BSF was reluctant to share the details of the incident at Kathaltali BOP, the police said Assistant Sub-Inspector Jogendra Singh was shot in the back of his head. Police arrived at the scene and shifted the body to a hospital for postmortem.
The BOP is manned by 66th battalion of the BSF. ASI Singh hailed from Haryana.
Arun Kumar Verma, Senior BSF official in Tripura frontier of BSF said the deceased was on duty when the incident occurred. “The exact circumstances leading to his death would be known after completion of scientific and forensic tests,” he told media adding that the authorities have ordered a probe.
